As an advertising major and someone who is generally enjoys paying attention to campaigns and mass communication, one of the campaigns that I've been profoundly interested in, in recent years, was the Share A Coke campaign by the iconic Coca-Cola company. This campaign had me so fascinated that I actually bought several bottles of Coke even though I'm a strict no soda drinker (I've drank around 6 sodas in my life).
This campaign started in the mid 2000s with a simple premise: just random names on bottles of Coke, with the idea that you would buy a Coke that had your name on it, or if one had a friend's name on it, you would buy it for them. I bought these drinks for my brother Evan, and a liter bottle for my marching band. It's oddly satisfying to have your name written on the Coke bottle. The campaign was gone for a few years but it was brought back in full force in 2014 and has been off and on since then.
According to Coke's website there are around 250 generic names that Coke uses to decide what names to print, along with some nicknames and large groups. Despite the seemingly crazy names such as Jocelyn and Mariah showing up surprisingly often to me, I've never seen my own name. Maybe own day *sigh*
